Gargoyle Geckos - Rhacodactylus auriculatus
Slightly broken patterns resembling what seems to look like lines of different colors .The brighter the color and the more lines is what makes this reptile price cost go for a higher price.
This adult color combination is sometimes referred to as 'bacon'. Bacon coloration is generally seen with a red dorsal bar, and orange side and lateral bars. Some times seen with solid red lines.
This color pattern is blotches or patches of color over a reticulated or banded base. Color blotching often follows the base patterning.
cb. Leucism is kind of like albinism, and quite rare. Unlike albinism, however, this animal has blue eyes, pigmintation is frequently incomplete.
A color trait expressed often in high color animals. This trait is also sometimes called the ‘tear’, because the color is expressed right behind/below the eye at the ends of the mouth. This color is generally the same color as the main color trait expressed in the gecko, but when two colors are present (red/orange stripe), it is usually the color that is represented on the side stripe
Gargoyle Geckos - Rhacodactylus auriculatus
Base Color — Brown base is the most common in wild gargoyle geckos. It can look yellow and yellow base geckos can look brown when they fire up. Gargoyles that have brown influences that show up in their patterning when fired also generally show a more yellow background when fired down. Many 'pet quality' gargoyles have more of a brown influence as other colors and lack of brown is selectively bred specifically for those traits. Brown influences are generally not selectively bred for, but are v
It is almost a dorsal bar, but obvious blotching on a reticulated gecko with no defined pattern edging. When the gecko also has color banding.
The dorsal bar is the set of color stripes that should be closely straddling the spine of the gecko. The side bar is the next set over, positioned a little.
Gargoyle geckos are named for the bumps on their skulls. Some breeders select for exaggerated horns in their geckos.
This means that the normal horn structure on the back of the skull is larger and more obvious. It typically appears after about 3 months of age.
The horned crown is an exaggerated horn structure that forms a crown structure on the head. It isn’t always easy to see in photos but is very obvious in person.
The dorsal bar is the set of color stripes that should be closely straddling the spine of the gecko. The side bar is the next set over, positioned a little away
This color trait is usually only expressed in the highest colored animals. It is usually an overflow from the blush onto the lips around the mouth. Sometimes this extends all the way to the front (often in blotched increments) and occasionally onto other areas of the head.
Mosaic gargoyle geckos show traits of the striped, banded, and reticulated patterns without fitting into any of them. The pattern is random and shows no consistency over the entire body.
Total opposite of any other morph. This genetic is a non high color or patternless Gargoyle Geckos that doesn’t have a lot of high traits to it thus being a normals Gargoyle Geckos.
